Research

The focus of my research is on powertrain optimization of Hybrid Electric Vehicles. I use mathematical model of an HEV powertrain to find the optimal controller for the power split so that the fuel consumption (and also emissions) is minimized. To assess the performance of the designed optimal controller, first I use a comprehensive HEV model that emulates the real vehicle behavior. Next, to be more realistic, different components of the drivetrain are replaced by real components and hardware-in-the loop tests are conducted. The ultimate test for the controller is the application of the controller on a real HEV.
