Welcome to the Motion Research Group

Welcome to the website for the Motion Research Group in the Department of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo directed by Professor John McPhee. We specialize in dynamic simulation, model-based control, and design optimization of mechanical, mechatronic, and biomechatronic multibody systems.

John McPhee, Professor of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo and the Canada Research Chair in Biomechatronic System Dynamics, presented a seminar on predictive simulation and model-based control of biomechatronic systems to the Biomechanical Engineering Lab (BIOMECH) at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.

PhD candidate AliAsghar Mohammadi Nasrabadi presented his work on "Enhancing Total Hip Arthroplasty Outcomes: Deep Learning for Spinopelvic Measures and Understanding the Influence of Spine Stiffness, Spinal Fusion, and Spinopelvic Parameters on Lower Limb Motion" at the 23rd Annual Scientific Conference of the Canadian Spine Society (CSS).
